Webb Restructures Contract
Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero · 4m
#Ravens restructured CB Lardarius Webb's contract to clear cap space today. Converted $4M of his $7.5M base salary to a signing bonus.
Brian McFarland @RavensSalaryCap · 1m
Per @TomPelissero, Ravens have restructured CB Lardarius Webb's contract - creates $3M in Cap space for 2014, adds $1M to 2015-2017 Cap #'s.

Re: Webb Restructures Contract
Check that.......
Aaron Wilson @RavensInsider · 3m
Lardarius Webb has $3.5 million base salary, $2 million is upfront, of the $4 million signing bonus, other $2 million spread out over season
Not exactly sure what that means, but it could indicate $2M is incentives - some of which could count this year, some not - so it could have created even more Cap space.

Re: Webb Restructures Contract
Is it me or does it say something how players are willing to work with the Ravens front office? Doesn't seem normal.

Re: Webb Restructures Contract
Not too much to see here. The Ravens seem to be much more amenable to these simple restructures over the last few years, but they're not going overboard with it like Pittsburgh has in the past.
Might increase the odds of Webb playing out his whole contract a bit more, but those odds were probably relatively high to begin with. Could this be signaling that an extension for Torrey Smith or Jimmy Smith is close at hand?

Re: Webb Restructures Contract
So, freeing up money for this year alone signals to me that they might be serious about making another move. Otherwise, why just free up money for this year?

Re: Webb Restructures Contract
There's not much "working with" going on with these simple restructures. It's literally moving money around on the balance sheet. The player ends up taking no less money so there's no downside from their perspective. If anything, it's upside because they get a fat check up front instead of waiting for it to be paid out over the course of 16 game checks.
