Re: Which receivers get cut/Did Deonte Thompson make a case
Campanero and Butler go to the PS. Both are unlikely to be picked up by other teams as both and especially Campanero have shown little in the preseason for scouts to drool over. Butler has shown potential but is still raw by NFL standards.

Re: Which receivers get cut/Did Deonte Thompson make a case
I think we need Thompsons and Campanaro on the team. Remember that Torrey Smith is a FA next year, so we need as much WR talent on hand in case another team makes him a better offer than us. If Smith walks I'd much rather have Thompson on the roster than Aiken, who would likely help in special teams this year but won't help out at WR in the future.

Re: Which receivers get cut/Did Deonte Thompson make a case
I just don't see who will return punts if Camp doesn't make the team. I only see Jacoby returning kickoffs (on top of his offensive snaps) and I really don't think they will risk Asa handling those duties.
I'm still upset we didn't go after Bruce Ellington (who would have been a fantastic fit here). I hope Gillmore pans out, because that is where they could have taken Ellington.

That was when Kubes supposidly said he needed someone who could
block so they took Gilmore.
According to Ravor's thread the first round of cuts are going on
but they are mostly camp fodder guys.
None of the receivers we're talking about in this thread.

Re: Which receivers get cut/Did Deonte Thompson make a case
Despite being quiet in Games 1 & 2, I'd say Campanero did have some drool-worthy moments in Game 3. And by all accounts he's had an excellent training camp. I would be very surprised if Campanero goes to the PS. I say he either makes the 53 (most likely) or gets the "hangnail" IR treatment (less likely).
Agree on Butler, though. I consider him a prime candidate for the PS.

I've been saying for a while that Aiken makes it. I still expect it and I hope he takes advantage

Campy is on the roster or IR, bank it.
So that leaves, (potentially) 1 spot... DT MIGHT make it, or might get traded for a CB.
Kamar Aiken... ahhh... too little too late. Nice player, but not someone we can't live without. MIGHT make it if we get a reasonable trade offer on DT.

Five wr's. Camp is no 5. Butler to PS. You have to keep Hurst because Reid is fragile. In addition you don't keep a guy like DT, and lose an important special team player like McClellan. You can find Aikens and DT's any time during the season.
