FAN'S CHOICE: Ravens All-Time Team, Wide Receiver

Throughout their 18-year history the Ravens have had a difficult time discovering and developing talent at the position of wide receiver. It was once so bad that prior to the 2011 second round selection of Torrey Smith, fans dreaded the thought of the Ravens burning a first round pick on a wide receiver.

We have Travis Taylor and Mark Clayton to thank for that.

The absence of a prototypical No. 1 WR has only added fuel to the fire of Baltimore’s yearning for a player in the mold of a Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald. So far none have come even remotely close.

Be that as it may, we still need five pass catchers to complete our wide receiver corps. Our kick return specialist, either Jacoby Jones or Jermaine Lewis will be our sixth receiver.

Here are our candidates for the other five slots:

Mason, Boldin, Torrey are the locks.

Quadry Id say is nearly a lock in my eyes, but I can see adding him to this debate. He was always underrated and seemed poorly used (not unlike our other Q) to me. So for me it really comes down to Alexander or Jackson. Jackson had the bigger season, but I personally feel that Alexander was more consistent and the better player overall. kind of a gray area when you talk about their contributions as Ravens, because they were nearly identical statistically over the two years (yards and TDs) with a slight advantage of RECs going to Jackson. Jacksons extra year with us didnt really warrant much celebration. I cant really argue if somebody says Jackson over him but Id go with Alexander for that final spot.

Mason, Quadry and Jackson are the locks for me. Then it's pick 2 between Alexander, Torrey and Boldin. All 3 have good reasons to be selected.
