FAN'S CHOICE: Ravens All-Time Team, Cornerback
Ozzie Newsome is on record saying often, “You can never have enough good corners.” And in the modern era of the NFL the declaration is even more valid.
During their 18-year history the Baltimore Ravens have had their fair share of solid corners. Today we’ll take a look back at a list that includes a few major talents who played the position for the purple and black as well as some complementary players who served as very solid nickel corners.
From this list we’ll ask you to select 6 for our Baltimore Ravens All-Time Team consisting of 53 players and an 8-man Practice Squad.

Re: FAN'S CHOICE: Ravens All-Time Team, Cornerback
McAlister no question.
He never really realized his full potential, but man, when he was on his game and engaged, he was a pro bowl CB.
If he played like he did in 03-04 for a 5-6 year stretch, he could have potentially been in HOF discussions IMHO.
Unfortunately, he liked women and partying way too much and never worked well with authority.
The other 5?...Webbie of course, Starks, Rolle, and Baxter. Jimmy Smith will be on that list shortly.Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Chris McAlister. That's the only guy who needs to be on that list. He reached heights that no other Ravens CB has come close to.

Re: FAN'S CHOICE: Ravens All-Time Team, Cornerback
Top 2 are easy...Webb and Mac.
Starks gets my #3 spot, which surprises me, but didn't realize he had 20 picks here! Also had a big pick 6 in SB 35.
#4 goes to Jimmy Smith, going mainly on potential. If he continues his current path, he earns the #4 spot outright.
#5 is Baxter, who had a MONSTER number of PDs in his career, and #6 came down to Graham vs Cary Williams. I was tempted to pick Graham, but Cary had the better numbers..

“When I think of a Baltimore Raven - we go in there, we take your lunch box, we take your sandwich, we take your juice box, we take your applesauce, and we take your spork and we break it. And we leave you with an empty lunch. That’s the Baltimore Raven way.” - Steve Smith Sr.
Call me a Special Teams coach again. I dare you! I double dare you, MFer!

Re: FAN'S CHOICE: Ravens All-Time Team, Cornerback
1. Chris McAllister
The obvious #1
2. Lardarius Webb
3. Duane Starks
These two are equally are obvious.
4. Jimmy Smith
Probably (hopefully) will challenge McAllister before all is said and done.
5. Samari Rolle
Comfortably slots in here. Would have been #4 before last year.
6. Corey Graham
This isn't easy to choose but for his game vs Denver in the playoffs he deserves the nod. The others in consideration are Gary Baxter, Cary Williams, and I guess Deion Sanders though for my money Cary Williams is the closest to Graham and on a different day I'd choose him.

For me (and most) CMAC, Webb, and Starks are the easy top-3.
After that, I went Baxter, Rolle, and Jimmy Smith.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: FAN'S CHOICE: Ravens All-Time Team, Cornerback
Rolle's last year or two weren't very good here, but he was consistent and he wasn't awful.
I also think that had Baxter not had such terrible knee issues, he would have had a much better NFL career.
I will say, I did strongly consider Graham over Smith because Graham was such a HUGE part of the Super Bowl run.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Who is going to argue with our two starting corners on this team being McAllister and Webb?

Am I the only one that thinks the Deion Sanders option should come with a caveat ???......Apparently I am! For surely if I were not, you guys would have had him at the top of your top 3. So assuming we are talking strictly raven era, give me the most statistically productive guys in order from one through six!
