    There are a lot of great players to have worn #75, so the competition is really strong. There are several Hall of Famers.

    That being said . . .


    The sack record is 22.5 by Michael Strahan in 16 games in 2001, but they didn't start keeping this stat until 1982. When they went back and looked at the tapes of old years, Deacon Jones had 26 sacks in 1967 and 24 sacks in 1968, and those were 14 game seasons. That was also an era where the offense didn't throw nearly as much, so there were fewer opportunities to sack the quarterback. To me, that sums up Deacon Jones - the guy was completely dominant and one of the greatest defensive players of all time.
