Waive Aaron Mellette and Adrian Hamilton

The Ravens waived wide receiver Aaron Mellette and outside linebacker Adrian Hamilton Tuesday afternoon on the eve of minicamp.

Probably making way for one of the vet cornerbacks trying out today.

Woah! That surprises me, at least this early. Not Hamilton so much, as I never thought he'd make the team, but Mellette did some things in preseason last year and then was IR'ed for 2013. Thought they saw some potential there. Makes you wonder why they bothered paying his salary while he was out. Maybe they love this Jeremy Butler. I had Mellette making the team as the 5th or 6th wideout. Maybe they don't see him helping on ST, so they see no reason to keep him. IDK.

Ughhhhhhhhhh!!!! I really like Hamilton. I think waiving Hamilton was a mistake , but insert his more as a courtesy move from the Ravens, one of those "you're good enough to play in the NFL, but we don't have a spot for you" allowing both players to join other squads

Disagree. If he was good enough, he wouldn't have been waived. For every 1 James Harrison, there are 500 or more Hamilton's. It never ceases to amaze me how people fall in love with them. What has he ever done?

Exactly. He turns 27 in November and has played special teams in a whole TWO NFL games. Regardless, I still did think he was a "bubble" type player for the final 53. IRing him last year makes even less sense now.
