With the 10th pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Lions selects Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State

They need secondary help and they get a playmaker

With the 11th pick, Tennessee takes

    Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame.

The titans are moving to a 3-4 and you need a good 0-technique to make it all work. Nix has experience as a nose tackle and is arguably the best 3-4 defensive player in this draft after Anthony Barr and Khalil Mack.

With the 12th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Jets are told that it is not their pick.

The Steelers were thinking the same thing. Too bad the Titans beat them to Nix

I was thinking that they'd take a corner. Verner is in Tampa Bay and they have no one capable of replacing him.

With the 12th pick the NY Giants select

Aaron Donald, DT, University of Pittsburgh

The Giants have many needs, but they won 2 SB's due in large part to excellent defensive line play. A strong pass rush has long been a big part of their identity, but personnel turnover has created a need on the interior of their defensive front. Gone are Osi, Canty, Joseph and Tuck, and Kiwanuka is in the last year of his deal. They see putting Donald with Damontre Moore, Jonathan Hankins and the recently injury prone JPP as the beginning of their return to pass rushing dominance.

If I didnt think Zimmerman was set to turn the vikings into a 3-4 I would have went with Donald. Barr is a little more flexible for this transition year.

I am really hoping the Steelers take Nix on Thursday night. It will be priceless in two years when they realize they have another "Terrance Cody" on their hands.
