OT: What are the Jets doing?
Cutting Sanchez might've been the only solid move the Jets have made so far.
The Jets let their best CB go to Arizona, they don't attempt to sign Revis,Browner,Verner,Thurmond,Talib,or Rodgers-Cromartie despite having enough money to do so.
They replace their RT with an inferior one.
They sign Eric Decker who fades against quality corners and is unanimously acknowledged as a #2 who needs a good #1,
They don't try to get one of the best FS on the market despite being able to do so.
And they sign Vick. If Vick is going to be starting Week 1, Geno will be starting Week 4 at the latest. Vick is going to get injured, he's going to scramble and get hurt it's what he does and it's why he has only played 16 games once. If the Jets wanted to get a quality back-up they could've signed Flynn,Grossman,Freeman or traded a 6th for Schaub, but not gotten an injury-prone inaccurate guy like Vick.
Also Geno's problem to me isn't development or competition, he needs weapons.
Name a Jets TE,WR,RB that intimidates you, if you can name one at all.
Rex is a great defensive guy, but he is terrible at surrounding a young QB with an offensive core to grow around.

Re: OT: What are the Jets doing?
They also have the best defensive line in the NFL, so you have to take that into consideration. Decker may not be a #1 but he's still a very good receiver. If they get Chris Clemons at safety, then in the draft, get a corner in the first round, receiver in the second, and another corner in the third I think they would have a pretty solid team. They also have Dee Milliner who was a first round pick last year and he played pretty well down the stretch. With Rex leading that defense, they'll be top 5 if not top 3.

Sink or swim for ryan this year, jets fans have to be curious too. If vick can stay healthy and no turnovers, jets could win some games. Just don't count on ryan to be an offensive mastermind, it won't happen.

Re: OT: What are the Jets doing?
They're talking about trading for DeSean Jackson...which in and of itself is dumb, because they are dangerously close to tampering.
DRC visited there, but they dragged their feet on something about his offer...Giants made him more of a priority, and he chose them..

“When I think of a Baltimore Raven - we go in there, we take your lunch box, we take your sandwich, we take your juice box, we take your applesauce, and we take your spork and we break it. And we leave you with an empty lunch. That’s the Baltimore Raven way.” - Steve Smith Sr.
Call me a Special Teams coach again. I dare you! I double dare you, MFer!

Re: OT: What are the Jets doing?
Rex has nothing to do with the personnel. They took that away from him 2 years ago. Blame their GM John Idzik for these moves. If it was up to Rex the Jets never would have traded Revis in the first place.
Apparently they did make a big offer to get Revis this time but it wouldn't have allowed Revis to get back on the market as quickly as the Pats offer which is what he wanted. They also came in 2nd for DRC who picked the Giants. The other guys you listed they weren't in the market for and Cromartie really pushed to come back.

Re: OT: What are the Jets doing?
It's only year 2 for the GM. It's going to take a little while to build the team the way he wants. The issue is that Idzik and Rex hate each other. Idzik thought he'd have to put up with Rex for a year and then he'd get to hire his own guy. That's part of why he gutted the team last year. They would 'rebuild' and Rex would put up a crap record and be out. Only Rex is a damn good coach and somehow gets 8 wins out of that group. He's very close with the owner and gets and extension. Now the rumors are that it could be Idzik who gets fired if things don't go well.
Idzik has been skewered by the media because he is very slow in negotiations. That cost him a shot at Revis and DRC picked the Giants before Idzik was even through negotiating. He apparently was having a tough time focusing on Decker and other players at the same time. Now that Idzik's seat is hot he decided to get a legitimate QB just in case they need him. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
