Redskins release Will Montgomery. Any interest?

Sorry. Didn't read some of the articles posted here. Why was he release? Age and salary didn't mesh with production?

He had a significant cap hit this year IIRC.

He doesn't fit the power/man blocking scheme Jay Gruden wants to use. They're moving Lichtensteiger to center since he's too undersized to play LG in a power scheme. The Redskins are in a tough spot because their whole offense is set up for zone blocking, so they're going to be changing out a lot of pieces to fit Gruden's scheme.

It was more like 3.5, they save 1.9 for cutting a bad scheme fit player.

Maybe he can drive down and check out the castle. Seem like a player that would fit a big need for us. If the ravens can't come up with something that might bring Alex Mack here next week, I would think he would be a good backup plan.

Worth a look.

My knee-jerk reaction with all that was written was that there has to be a rat in the woodpile that somebody like that, who would fit our needs, is suddenly available. Then I remembered it was the Washington team that cut him.

Probably should get a look.
