CAMs guy from LSU as Flacco's backup?

Saw this article logging on and it implies CAM might influence Ravens a little into taking his QB Zack Mettenberger from LSU. I remember CAM speaking highly of him shortly after his arrival at LSU and he received his SB ring in the mail. Said he has a strong arm and took a similar path as Flacco in college. CAM likes what he sees.

Mayock thinks he stares on to his receiver and the ball is late leaving him but we're talking backup here, another strong arm to back up Joe. He could go in 2d or 3rd round so no way we take a back up that high up but he had an ACL on his knee so if he's still there in the latter rounds, I can see taking a flyer on this kid.

He said CAM taught him how to play from a veteran NFL stand point and he was up early studying film every day.

    Very interesting.

The problem is that the Ravens aren't going to take Mettenberger in the 2nd round which is where he's going to go. He would be a very good fit but some team is going to draft him early. He's already recovered from that ACL and it won't knock him down any further.

How about staring on to his receiver with a late delivery ala, um, Boller. Would that drop him?

Yeah he's going to get drafted pretty high even with his injury

Had he not gotten hurt, I think he would have been a top-25 pick.

He actually didn't do that so much this season because of Cam. That's why both starting receivers on that team will be drafted pretty high. It was a big problem last year though before Cam got there.

I think we'll end up with a Texans cut as our backup QB -- Keenum or Yates.

Why not just trade a 6 to Tampa for Mike Glennon?

Whoa.....I saw him a lot at LSU. I can't see him as more than a third round value....injury or not.

Yeah no way. He's projected as a 3rd rounder. But I could see us taking a Tom Savage in the 5th or 6th if he's there.

Any other position I would agree with you. Quarterbacks though have a way of being pushed up. After Mettenberger the available QBs fall off a cliff. Someone is going to reach and draft him at the bottom of round 2 because they don't want McCaron or Savage or Boyd. It will be the same with Jimmy Garoppolo

How about AJ McCaron with one of our compensatory picks in the 4th?
