Re: Source: Steve Smith a strong fit for Ravens

I think he would fit the need for reliable pass catcher and bringing some edge to the offense, but I feel he is 5 yrs too old to bring in now. His spot he would occupy could be for a longer term answer such as a 1st rd talent tbh.

I not against or for this strangely enough.

They made it to the playoffs last year; we didn't.

One year makes the difference? And it was because of Smith?

You're really suggesting that punching your own teammates is a great motivator and an example of effective leadership?

With all due respect that's a lame argument.

If it was last year, yes. Instead of Stokely.
But I'd prefer Lance Moore for the same low price.
Golden Tate for a few dollars more.

Hold on ...doesn't the CBA limit the number of "Smiths" any one team can have on its roster? And we haven't even re-signed Daryl yet...

Seriously though, I'm not a fan of Steve Smith's drama vis-a-vis his own Carolina teammates. I'd be fine with adding a FA WR vet, but don't have much enthusiasm for a 35-year old with attitude issues.

On a 1 year deal? Sure. Other than that...NO. A few years ago when he was supposedly on the trade block I was all for it. But not so much now. Like someone else said, they'res only so many receptions to go around. And I'm hoping beyond hope we grab Evans in the 1st or one of the second tier guys in the 2nd. Now of course even Evans, or whomever isn't gonna be a huge contributor right away, not many rookies are. But grab that guy now that can be the #1 next year to compliment Torrey while keeping Marlon in the mix. So for just THIS year, yeah I'd take SS with the understanding that our high draft pick will be taking those receptions next year. Takes some of the pressure off the rookie as well as Torrey.

We made it to the playoffs five straight years before last year, and won a Super Bowl, all without Smith. That was a pretty weak comment, bud.

I'd think Evans being talked about as a top 15 overall pick would be a "step right in" type of guy.

I like him as a player I like how aggressive he is and I like that he has a ton of fire inside.

Step right in....Yes, but look at history of 1st Rd WR's overall. How many guys come in and have 1000+ yard seasons their first year? Not very many.
