That's what I'm saying. If you thought the Ravens should have kept Boldin last year, then you should be in favor of this move. To say you wanted Boldin, but you don't want Smith, doesn't make any sense.

They save virtually nothing. His release wasn't about money.

Nah I feel you and I agree in a perfect world our rookie WR just steps in and picks up 1st downs like Barney Stinson picks up broads, but it doesn't always work out like that. I want an arsenal for the Ravens...not just 3 WRs and Pitta. I want us to run 5 WR sets. Peyton had 2 of the best #1 WRs in the NFL and Eric Decker last year. Give Flacco weapons

young guys need a mentor and right now thats just Torrey Smith (jacoby isnt much of a wr). I have no issue with him coming in and getting 30-40 targets for the year. A role not to dissimilar to stokely last year. Sure handed 3rd down guy for situational playing only. More than likely he starts out as the 3 until our top rookie gets his legs under him. I dont think its possible that a WR isnt BPA sometime within the first 3 rounds.

we lost stokely, Doss, and possibly Jacoby. Theres going to be plenty of hole to fill if we carry 5 guys let alone if we carry 6 like we have been.

I disagree on young receivers needing a mentor, that's what coaches are for. I think you can be a young veteran like Torrey or even Pitta and still provide leadership to young receivers. Those guys are productive and SB champs and that's what young players look up to.

I've always admired Steve Smith's game. He's a bit of a diq, but not so much of a locker room grenade.

Between coach Engram and Smith, there's a lot of technical and longevity knowledge there. I'm not sot sure how much of a "teacher" Smith is though. I would like to be sure about that before dealing. Making our team better statistically is great, but giving our young guys a boost would be much better as Torrey's possible mega-deal looms.

Well, if you saw the episode with Barney's 200th, you would know he only picks up broads like 1.6% of the time... LOL, great show.

I think Steve Smith would come in and be our #2/3 WR on day one. Primarily our number two, but might move inside when we play 3 WR's.

This I agree with. I think Steve would provide great leadership...but come on we got SB champions on our squad.

People only wanted Boldin because of his playoff run. Prior to those playoffs there were plenty who were in favor of letting him go because they didn't feel he was a 'true #1'. After the SB, all of that changed.

and those guys had vets ahead of them that taught them what it was like to be an nfl player. Coaches coach, i get that, but theres more to being a player than when the coaches are around. A guy thats as respected as smith, or boldin, or heap etc helps set a tone. I think theres value there.
