I heard it was weeks 16 and 17 and that it's preparation for the expanded playoffs.

I saw an article on the anti-trust law and why they don't do Sat night games any more but now all I can find is this: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...aturday-games/

Confirmed Dec 20th double header. Week 17 all 32 teams have to play on Sunday or at least that's what the league wants due to playoff implications

I used to love the Saturday games once the college season was over. It's okay with me if they come back.

And I agreed that it's prep for the 18 game schedule. It's going to happen, with an extra bye week, and the Super Bowl will be on the Sunday of Presidents' weekend. In my opinion...

They won't have to. The NCAA bowl games (the ones that matter) don't start until New Years Day now.

they can't due to anti-trust laws. They're going to televise on the 3rd Sat in Dec

no games can be televised on Friday nights or Saturdays from the second Friday in September until the second Saturday in December.

I'm aware of that.

But that's an agreement, not law. And it's an agreement made before all of these ancillary bowl games came to prominence.

My bet is the league is going to eventually ask to amend or outright do away with that provision.

I'm all for more NFL football. Sucks when you look at the weekend schedule and there are 8 games you want to see but they're all at 1 on Sunday. That's why I love Thursday night football.
