I for one am really excited for Caldwell to go to the Lions so we can promote Jim Hostler.

I would love for Detroit to hire Caldwell, or for any team to hire him. NFLN is saying Detroit's #1 choice is Munchak. You have to be pretty bad for Munchak to be favored above you as a HC candidate :)

    Ian Rapoport@RapSheet3m
Two things to watch: #Chargers likely to promote QB coach Frank Reich to OC. And #Lions may turn to No. 2 target, Mike Munchak

If he doesn't get the gig they should do away with the Rooney rule because its so transparent now.

The Titans must have made Whiz and offer he couldn't refuse. Really surprising but great news for the Ravens. Maybe the impossible will become possible with Caldwell.

I'm interested in the details of the contract and I also bet they're going to draft a QB. If Detroit sent their private jet for him today, and he boarded the Titans jet instead, there must be big reasons. On paper Detroit looks like a better situation IMO.

Also suspect Russ Grimm winds up on his staff

Maybe, Whisenhunt didn't want the better situation. He was able to rise Arizona from the ashes. Now, he wants to do that with Tennessee. If he won in Detroit, it would be similar to Seifert coming in for Walsh, or Switzer coming in for Johnson. Everyone would say he "inherited" a great team and his winning there would be made cheaper. With the Titans, it is the total opposite. He will build the team the way he wants, and therefore be given much more credit. Just my opinion.
