Probably just a Rooney rule interview.

Re: Jim Caldwell to the Lions!!!?????
I'm pretty sure Caldwell isn't under contract for next season. He's a free agent so to speak.
Could you imagine if he became the HC of Detroit and made that offense into what he had with the Colts? It would be pretty entertaining around here if that happened.

Re: Jim Caldwell to the Lions!!!?????
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Re: Jim Caldwell to the Lions!!!?????
That's exactly what it is. Lovie Smith has already had a bunch of interviews and isn't interested in these stupid games. Todd Bowels is also showing up on everyone's list which is a headscratcher. So the Lions thought they would try someone else. Unless Peyton is the QB no one is going to hire Caldwell
