This season is proof. No run game = Joe's diminished numbers.

He's not the type of QB that can do it all himself.
That's what I was trying to say - even to some extent if the run is being stopped they have to keep the D honest. Especially when you get into winter.

I'd love to see a new OC here but just don't want to focus on it now

The Career Development Advisory Panel, a group put together by the NFL to form an inclusive list of head coaching and GM candidates with an emphasis on minorities, has Jim Caldwell listed as one of their top minority candidates. It was reported in the MMQB's weekly one-page magazine. Perhaps this will get Caldwell a bit more attention as a candidate, but given how the offense has performed for most of the year, I doubt that anyone else will really want to snatch him up.

The issue with Caldwell is, as RaveninWoodlawn has mentioned before, his system in Indianpolis was not complex at all. They ran the same half dozen or so plays every game.

Stretch run, play action off of the stretch run
HB Dive, play action off of the HB Dive
    Slant, slant and go

The rest of the system was Peyton throwing out fake audibles to trick defenses into believing they were running something different. It was just to open up the same plays. That's why the Ravens defense was so successful against Peyton, because Ray and Reed knew it was all bullshit.

Their A plan just worked really really well. When it didn't, they really couldn't switch up either.
so in 10 years only the ravens figured that out? hmmm...

Ex, this is at least the 3rd time you've started this thread this season.

I don't know if Caldwell is the best OC or not. But irrespective of your views on offensive philosophy, he clearly hasn't had much to work with this season. When he did have more to work with the results were outstanding. I'm not sure how you look at that and conclude that he should be fired.

What I do know is that teams that continually fire coaches and coordinators rarely develop the continuity to be successful. As a fan base we pretty much all agreed that Cam had to go. The new guy has been around for 1 calendar year and we're already calling for his head?!? Maybe we can fire our OC every year at Christmas and then continue to wonder why players haven't perfected the current system.

As for DC, our defense is playing well. No change will happen unless Pees leaves of his own accord. I loved watching Rex's defenses, but as long as they're playing well I'm not one to complain about style.

Great point. Bisciotti leaves the football to the football people. If he had a problem he would change Ozzie or Harbaugh

Amen. Also I think the Deadskins are valid proof what of what happens when an owner sticks his nose into the franchise too much.

Uh, what? Since when was our defense always successful against Peyton? Last year in the playoffs was the first time we had beaten him since 2001. Peyton has OWNED the Ravens throughout his career.

Ah, the good old days. I wish RR could pile up 100 yards on 30 carried now... Bc

I said defense, as in the defense that held Peyton without a TD in 06', I didn't say wins and losses. I mentioned the specific unit.

Kubiak would salivate with the options we have here. But cry like a lil girl looking at the Oline!

Next year, we will have the same OC and DC unless Caldwell gets a HC job. The team is going through a couple years of transition and this is just year one.

Yep. Caldwell won a Super Bowl and already fans are turning on him. Can you imagine how fast fans would want Kubiak gone if he underperformed? I can't wait for the "Cam-iak" or "Kub-well" nicknames.

I don't think the ravens need to get a new defensive and offensive coordinator . Our defense is performing very well so far this year and our offense may not be good but I think its quite reasonable to understand that most of the problems on offense isn't the fault of the offensive coordinator.

Ravens fans may have a problem with Jim Caldwell because he still running the same system that Cam Cameron ran and that may be true but their play calling is a lot different in my opinion. The philosophy the ravens are running is the air corydell which is a system that favors deep pass but at the same time solid slot receivers and a solid run game are important as well to the system .

The Air Corydell main goal is try to get opposing defenses to cover the whole field which is generally impossible especially when you have solid receivers attacking each part of the field.

I'm not necessarily saying that Caldwell needs to go, but Cameron's system needs to go and dammit, if the man doesn't grow some balls and tell Harbaugh to let him implement his Indy system, then he might as well get his ass out of here and get somebody in here who will.

    Does that explain things?
