Marty Schottenheimer
Anybody watch "Marty Schottenheimer, A Football Life"?
Really powerful stuff. He was definitely a great coach that met with some truly unlucky fate. I recall that he was a candidate for the Ravens coaching job, but Marty took himself out of the running when he found out that his son Brian was also a candidate.
Amazing life in the NFL in terms of the players and coaches he "touched":
> Joe Namath
> Tony Dungy
> Bill Cowher
> Ladainian Tomlinson
> Drew Brees
By the way...some of the "characters" that came out not looking so good in this documentary:
> The Cleveland "fans" that left threatening messages on the Schottenheimer home voice mail. Real classy, Cleveland.
> Darrell Green of the Redskins that basically said, "How dare you treat me like the rest of the players!!!"
> Danny Snyder. Schottenheimer was by far...BY FAR..the best coach he's ever had and he fired him because he didn't want to give Marty GM control...and instead gave it to Vinny Cerrato.Last edited by JohnBKistler; 12-18-2013 at 12:57 AM.

Good show, he certainly believes in the old school ways. The guy was jinxed somehow but he also was so stubborn and egotistical that he brought some of it on himself IMO.
