    The Beer Thread

I had to start a thread because I am drinking an Avery Brothers "Uncle Jacobs Stout".

It is a double imperial stout sitting around 17% abv.

Holy shit...this is the best stout I've ever had.

Bad timing of this thread for me.

Gave up booze until Christmas. Training for a marathon.

    Don't I wish.

I did stock up on Pumpking though. I cannot get enough of it. By far, my favorite seasonal beer.

Craft beer taking off hugely this side of the pond though I reckon the USA may be well ahead on this trend

Was trying to think of American beers on sale here excluding the obvious Coors Light, Miller, Bud and the only one I know is Sam Adams. I've never tried Sam Adams, must do so this week

No idea if you have these beers but I adore:
Fullers of London, they stock several seasonal brands and I love them all. I need to buy shares in this company!

Asahi, it's a Japaneese beer and just divine

Cobra, a pretty big brand here and nicer then any other big brands in my opinion

    Cheers

    Fullers and Asahi, yes.

    I've not seen Cobra.

I had Merry Maker from Sam Adams for the first time this past weekend. Pretty good seasonal. runs about 75$ for a case of 12 (i think) 22oz bottles which i dont think I liked it enough to purchase.

Also had Sierra Nevadas Ovilia. Very tasty beer. I prefer Belgians and this one didnt have some of the same flavor notes common with Belgians but i still think it was a good beer.

Winter beers i like less than the fall ones but im on the look out for some new ones to try. Usually stick with the same few. LBC Winter warmer tends to be the one i stick with most, which i have a case of now. Kegerator is fixed and my beer distributor got a sixtel of Mad Elf with me in mind but im not sure I want a keg of that one. Not typically one I drink a lot of.

Asahi sounds intriguing. Is it a Rice beer? Ive had one of those before but I cant remember the maker. May have been Dogfish head.

Sierra Nevada uses a lot of hops with citrus notes on them. Particularly, Chinook. It is one of the common flavors in Sierra Nevada beer.

If you really like that type of flavor, then pretty much all Sierra NEvada beer will be agreeable to your palate.

I happen to love chinook and citra hops. In fact, I just racked a holiday IPA into the secondary last weekend. Should be ready to bottle on the 14th. It is a dry-hopped IPA (chinook and cascade) and I'm infusing it with whole nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon.

I'm not overly crazy about rice beers, but Sapporo and Asahi are pretty good.

Got me some Tell Tale Heart ale, single hop simcoe flying dog IPA and a heavy seas Yuke Tide, which is an imperial red ale with ginger.

    Drink beers and cheers!

Had a Proletary Ale by Brewer's Art last night.

Damn tasty. I usually don't like the darker, porter style beers but this one went perfect with Thanksgiving dinner on a cold night.
