Re: LOL - The real reason Ed Reed was cut?

I know someone out there is wondering: Why didn't Ed just go to New York or New England in the first place?

I'll answer that for you, because not even the Jets were going to give him 5 million guaranteed, and you knew the Hoody wasn't going to give him close to that. The Hoody barely wants to pay his homegrown veterans.

It would be great for Reed to spend his "Farewell Tour" in Texas, New York, and Boston...as long as he's not wearing a Ravens uniform. He made his ($5 million dollar) bed, now he's got to sleep in it... Bc

I for one would like to see Ed finish his career on a positive note. He is one of the greatest Ravens ever and I hate to see him go out this way. He is obviously nowhere near the player he once was but it would be good to see him at least have a respectable finish to his career.

    A couple of things:

    A) I'm happy for him.
    B) Still glad he's not here, I can't see how he could help that much
    C) He doesn't really scare me much in terms our upcoming game
    D) If he isn't done he will be soon.
    E) I would love to have him on our coaching staff

Just by virtue of the fact that he wound up in NY instead of here, I'm guessing that he'd be more likely to coach there for Rex instead of here for John. Pure conjecture on my part, but...

    Ditto.

Rex would love him in his locker room unlike, well...

Trevor Pryce, Derrick Mason, Dawan Landry, Bart Scott, Billy Cundiff, and now Ed Reed. Rex Ryan has a thing for taking former Ravens.

Apparently, Ed has said he'd like to coach, but would prefer to at least start smaller.

I bet he'll be a HS coach for a bit, or go to a college program in New Orleans.

    He'll be a good one.

I was hoping Ray would be a coach here. He knows more football than the entire coaching staff put together.

Byner went from player to ass't Ravens coach with RBs, I think it was.
Then he got promoted to the Skins and we went nuts.

I'm amazed that he chose the Jets over the Patriots (he mentioned Pats were a possibility) - Pats are guaranteed to go to the playoffs. Rex must have really sold him on letting him be a free spirit.
