Re: The time is NOW to re-sign Eugene Monroe

It's already been mentioned, but the value of a LT has gone down in recent years. Teams are focused more on the entirety of the O-line since the blind side since it seems like teams' best pass-rushers are moving around more often than not. The FO surely has a plan in mind as it pertains to the long-term status of Monroe. Unless his market value isn't anywhere near what the FO expected, they'll find a way to keep him around.

    UNC.

    4 year starter at LT.

6'7" 315lbs and has excellent footwork. He has played well against some of the top pass rushers in college.

Lets just say, we're picking at 16, and you have Kuandijo, and Sammy Watkins on the board, but you have Monroe re-signed. Who are you picking? Thats a really tough one, you can have a wall up front for Flacco, or a absolute stud and play maker at WR who can run routes like a seasoned pro already.

Great problem to have if Watkins is actually still on board. Depends on how confident Harbs and Moe-stillo are about Wagner.

Very tough question, my personal 1a and 1b in this draft class, for the ravens needs...
    With Monroe re-signed? Watkins.
With talks going well but no John Hancock? Kuandijo.
    With talks going poorly, Kuandijo.
With Pitta singed and Monroe not, Kuandijo.

I will try and put some eyeballs on him soon...

Wasn't Brennan Williams their LT that came out last year? Or did you mean 4 year starter, at LT now?

    Watkins.

Wagner looked really good at LT in the preseason....I think if you give him a full offseason at RT, he can do a nice job. Frankly, I've never believed our OL problems were the tackles...it was always the interior players.

I think Watkins would impact the offense a lot more than a RT...a 3 wide set of Torrey, Watkins and Brown to go with pitta assuming he returns is a lot of weapons.

I wouldn't be upset at all if we took a OT, but assuming we can keep Monroe, I don't think it's that high of a need if you have a guy like Watkins or even Evans there...Watkins IMHO is the best WR prospect coming out since the Jones/Green duo 3 years ago.

Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.
