Former Ravens C (and Free Agent) Jason Brown
This isnt necessarily a "Sign Jason Brown" thread, but while sitting around on this rainy Monday I got to thinking about the center position and I was trying to reflect on how long its been, if ever, since the Ravens have had such an issue at the Center position. Jason Brown crossed my mind and I had all but forgotten about him. I paid little attention to how his career progressed after leaving the Ravens for St. Louis, but I'm a little puzzled as to why this guy is not on an NFL roster, even as a backup. Did his skill set decline so much that he is no longer considered an NFL Caliber Player? He's only 30 years old and was once considered one of the better young up and coming centers in the NFL. In reality, shouldnt he be in the prime of his career? I tried to research information about any possible injuries, but could find nothing. Quite puzzling if you ask me. I recall he was a very hard worker while with the Ravens, so it can't be a work ethic issue can it?

Re: Former Ravens C (and Free Agent) Jason Brown
let's put it this way...his name came up alongside eric steinbach's last year. Neither got an offer.
Since then, I can't find a single shred of news about a visit or workout. He is done..

He's retired
At the end of the 2011 NFL season, with offers from both the San Fransisco 49ers and SuperBowl winning Baltimore Ravens, Jason consulted with his wife and God and ultimately decided to walk away from the game of football in which he had achieved much success over the previous fifteen years of his life. Jason found that he had lost his fire for football and believed that without the burning feeling to play and excel at the NFL level, it was time to step away from the game.

Re: Former Ravens C (and Free Agent) Jason Brown
Jason Brown worked hard and he had an edge, but he gave the Ravens a hard way to go about how they moved him around. He started out as a Guard, before being moved to Center. So, when he became a Free Agent, Ozzie told him that he would be the long-term Center. Brown was cool with that, but wanted Guard money to play Center, since he'd played some Guard. Ozzie basically said, best of luck to you. St. Louis gave him Guard money to play Center, offered it I mean. He called Ozzie back to see if Ozzie would match it. Ozzie said no and he went to the Rams, where he lost his edge and largely ineffective.
