Why? They have an even better LT in Joe Thomas. If the Browns wanted Monroe to be their RT, why would Monroe want to sign long term there? He can make a lot more money after this season playing LT.

    :word

This sounds like the Brownie FO has backslid to its old "make-any-deal-that-screws-the-Ravens" mentality. Which has worked soooooo well for them in the past...

Additionally, if Monroe wanted to be a right tackle, he could have been one in Jacksonville.

the old anonymous source strikes again. I'm not sure, even if true, why in the world they would admit this.

I looked at the article more from the standpoint of how Oz pulled off a good deal. Ozzie has "proprietary deal flow" and thus is able to secure us some deals that other front offices would drool over.

You bring up a good point though with respect to Cleveland and I'm not really sure what their angle is.

Goes to show that you can't necessarily wait for a team to call you about one of their players they want to trade.

From all accounts, Ozzie and the FO were the ones proactive here and inquired about Monroe...without any hint of the Jags putting him on the trading block.

Sounds like the Browns snoozed and "loozed" lol.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Adam Schefter reported there were "teams not happy" the #Ravens got Eugene Monroe for such a cheap price. Contacted NFL office. #Jaguars
