The last straw leading to Redskins name change?
This appears to be a well-orchestrated movement to turn up the heat on Danny Snyder to change the Landover teams' name. After years of getting nowhere, wrangling with lawsuits, protests, and nobodies such as the DC City Councilman proposing the name "Red Tails", the movement to force Snyder to change names had cracked the door ajar by Goodell's willingness to listen, and has now gotten at least a half-hearted recognition from the White House. Spoken in typical politician's double-speak, the man in the White House:
..... appeared to come down on the side of those who have sharply criticized the football team's name, noting that Indians ''feel pretty strongly'' about mascots and team names that depict negative stereotypes about their heritage.
Snyder should follow what Modell did by commissioning go ahead soon with a fans' poll for a new name. Avoid the absurdity of changing the Bullets to Wizards without fans' input. I suggest that the team name be changed to "Virginia Slims", in anticipation of the team breaking the lease with PG County to follow the money across the Potomac. In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Re: The last straw leading to Redskins name change?
The Miami Redskins (Ohio) were forced to change their name a few years ago. They are now the Red Hawks.
Let Joe Cool lead the way 😎
