Re: My Obamacare Experiment
Day two ....
Tried to log back in, but got the screen like yesterdays that tells you they're very busy and to not navigate off or I will lose my place in line.
Waited an hour and finally gave up.
I will try and call the 800 number later when I have a free second.Last edited by HoustonRaven; 10-04-2013 at 05:27 PM.

Re: My Obamacare Experiment
Let us know (if you call) what the wait time is. I'm curious to see if the website is sooooo busy, if the people at 1800FUCKYO are too.
IT would only make sense if people can't sign up on the site that they'd call the number provided.

Re: My Obamacare Experiment
Got through but was told the same glitch that was happening yesterday was happening again today.
Got through with about a 15 minute wait time and spoke to a real person. Asked where she was located and she said Canada. Go figure.

Re: My Obamacare Experiment
So finally signed in but had the site crash mid way through the process. I did get to the page of my deductible though.
If I read it right, my OOP expenses would cap out $12,500. But that's all OOP expenses. Currently, my plan via my wife's employer caps my payments depending on the type of expense. For example, if I have to go to the emergency room, it's capped at $2,000. My prescription cap out is $750, etc.
I don't remember what the plan name was.

Re: My Obamacare Experiment
Obviously private insurance is and will remain preferable in most cases, but for people like me who's private insurance options as a short order cook hover somewhere between nothing and crap, even a plan that caps it as high as 12gs is a god send. My cousin spent a week in Hopkins last year with no insurance... He's facing about 10.5X more than that in debt right now.

Re: My Obamacare Experiment
That's not how Obamacare was sold. It was always supposed to be a direct competitor to the private insurance companies, a cheaper alternative, etc.
That's on your employer. I know two bar owners in Fells who both found insurance for all of their people. Problem was, very few took it as it ate into their cash. They were very affordable plans too. Some did take the plans such as full time bartenders, cooks, etc.

Re: My Obamacare Experiment
i think this is how it was sold but not how its going to actually work. Its seems to me its going to be the ceiling the free market has to contend with not the basement that everyone chooses. I know insurance companies are whining about it and saying they cant compete, but im sure theyll miraculously find a way now that its in place. I believe they already are.
