Orientation is a good noun derived from the verb to orient. "Orientate" is not a good verb & only persists in the language via continual misusage.
Likewise defense is a perfectly viable noun derived from the verb to defend. It is not a valid verb except in the mouths of imbecile or un(der)educated former athletes doing commentary. You don't "defense" a play, you defend against it.
