Troy Smith Crawls to Montreal
Hope Troy enjoys the bench in the CFL

"We've been in discussions for well over three months and have been patiently waiting for Troy to finish his commitments at Ohio State," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said. "We'll have to fast track Troy in order to get him over the learning curve of the CFL and caught up to speed over the next several weeks.

Sounds like a real ringing endorsement for good ol' Troy.

Well shit... that's a huge promotion based on the fact that he had been the #3 QB on the Omaha Nighthawks... lol.

Re: Troy Smith Crawls to Montreal
I think he's had his share of humble pie by now.
Honestly, I hope he gets a good shot there. Work hard and earn it Troy..

Re: Troy Smith Crawls to Montreal
Funny thing is that when he came out of Ohio State, no one was interested in the read-option or smaller QBs.
Now with Russell Wilson, RG-Knee, and Kaepernick having success teams in need of a QB are looking at guys with this type of a skill set.
I mean, even Pat White could make the Redskins' roster as the 3rd QB. Pat "I want to play baseball" White.
I kind of feel bad for Troy in a way. He just came out of college at the wrong time. If he were to come out next year or this year, he probably would have been a much higher draft pick and gone to a team interested in running an offense geared towards his mobility and size.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Troy Smith had a bad attitude. He's not the leader that Russell Wilson is. Troy just thinks he is.

Definitely agree! I didn't dislike Troy Smith when he was with the Ravens. If not for his attitude, he'd be on some NFL
roster. Saw where Troy Smith had that 49ers sidelines' disagreement with Mike Singletary. Its one thing if an elite qb disagrees with the HC but certainly not the backup qb mouthing off. I knew his days were numbered in SF after that.

I'm hoping Ottawa gets him when they do their expansion draft. Would love to see him here

Re: Troy Smith Crawls to Montreal
He didn't have a bad attitude when he was at Ohio State (at least not that I remember hearing about). I think sitting the bench behind Kyle Boller and then having to compete against Flacco gave him a bad attitude, which I can understand. He just wasn't what the Ravens were looking for and he wasn't what the Niners were looking for. Had Troy been in SF when Harbaugh took over, who knows?
I agree that he isn't anywhere near the leader that Wilson is. I just compared the two because they are similar in size.
I'd also argue that Wilson is a MUCH MUCH MUCH better passing QB. My point was that when Troy came into the NFL (2008) the read-option hadn't really caught on like it has the past two seasons and maybe had Troy come out 4 years later, he would have had more success or at least stuck with a team.
Actually, he ran a 4.62, which compared to Wilson's 4.55 isn't THAT much slower. Troy isn't a speedy guy, but he was pretty nimble and had decent vision. I actually thought that had he done what Michael Robinson did (switch from QB to RB/FB), he may have stuck in the league a bit longer.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.
