RIP Artie. You were a classic! Loved this quote in the article. "The only weight I ever lifted weighed 24 ounces. It was a Schlitz. I always replaced my fluids."

The day after the first Baltimore Raven enters the Hall of Fame the first Baltimore Colt passes away. Thanks for the memories and the laughs and those special moments during my otherwise boring lunches at your store. Rest in peace Artie.

Artie was the best! There will never be another character like Art Donovan. 1 of a kind isn't even enough to describe what a special person Artie was. The world is going to miss him. RIP Artie

    Re: Art Donovan Dead?

They just announced it on the preseason game....Shock wave ran through me. I didn't even know he was ill ...I guess at 89 things can happen.

He was great. I remember when he would be a guest on the evening news sports...He would tell the sports caster that his doctor told him to cut out the six packs. So Artie quit drinking sixes...he switched to drinking 4 quarts.

He was a great football player and a real down to earth man. yet another old Colt that we will miss.

He was a guy we could all relate to. Art Donovan wasn't like today's athletes. He was one of us and proud of it.

I wasn't around for the Colts' time in Baltimore, but Art Donovan was always able to make me laugh with his bluntness and honesty. A great player and a great character too. He will be missed.
