    Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 31m

49ers CB Chris Culliver did tear his left ACL. No date for surgery set yet. He will miss this season.

Coples is a dumbass but calling him a wide 9 prospect is just displaying ignorance. The guy was an all-american DT in college.

    Actually, he was a DE.

I know he moved around a lot on the DL, but I was always under the impression that he was predominately a DE.

Furthermore, there is certainly reason to believe (based on his skill set) that he could function well as a wide-9 DT. So, who is really displaying ignorance?

Man, they have just been hit HARD. Niners can't catch a break.

Oh, and their 1st round pick last year (AJ Jenkins) is still not grasping the offense. So much in fact that the Niners are kicking the tires on Austin Collie and Laurent Robinson. WOW.

But all the pundits said the 49'ers would easily be back to the Super Bowl.

And a month ago, that would have been a reasonable prediction.

That's why you can't put too much into these preseason rankings and opinions. The rosters aren't even set yet in most cases and players are still learning the systems.

NFLN has been showing several hours of training camp coverage around the league and if you're just reading, doing some work, etc and have it on in the background they bring in some pretty good stuff from time to time. Not sure I'd sit and watch 6 hours of it daily though

That's the point... Things can change in an instant. To claim the 49'ers were destined for a Super Bowl return the day after they lost the Super Bowl was foolish.

I've been logging a lot of NFLN with the newborn. It's on the TV everyday. Good stuff.
