Ravens go to Gettysburg
Coach Harbaugh at it again - looking for any angle he can to inspire leadership and get his team ready for the fight that lies ahead.
On Day 2 of the Battle of Gettysburg, the Confederates attacked the Union’s flanks. Although the northerners suffered heavy losses, they held their ground on the rocks of Little Roundtop. By the end of the days fight, an officer told Union General George G. Meade that he must be pleased with the result.
“In the name of common sense, why?” Meade asked.
“Because, General, the enemy has hammered us into a strong position which you cannot easily whip us out of,” his officer said.
Harbaugh looked around at his players as they nodded in agreement. Having their backs against the wall is a position the Ravens have often found themselves in and will someday again.

Wow. Could you imagine if you went to Gettysburg with your family or something then all of a sudden you saw the entire Ravens team on a tour?

Re: Ravens go to Gettysburg
I heard Harbaugh was so impressed by how his team responded to it that he decided to cancel practice all next week and instead the Ravens are going to do a battle of Gettysburg reenactment.

Re: Ravens go to Gettysburg
When the Ravens had their backs to the wall in SB 47 HARBs yelled the same to his troops that Chamberlain said to his at the Little Roundtop.
FIX BAYONETS AND CHARGE.
And the Ravens did and with the same result.
That union charge saved the union.
It's great that HARBs appreciates history and knows where he comes from.

Re: Ravens go to Gettysburg
Before the Super Bowl they had a piece on Real Sports with both Harbaugh brothers. In it they both talk about what a special place Gettysburg was to their family growing up. Jack Harabugh is a real American history buff and made sure the whole family understood what it meant. They would go there a lot. Glad to see John bringing that sense of amazement and importance of that site to his players.
