“Now, we’ll find out if little Johnny can coach.”

According to Preston, an AFC head coach uttered that nonsense when Ray Lewis announced his retirement. That's a cheap insult and a low blow IMO, and the coach that said it is an ass in my opinion. Quite frankly, it sounds to me like something Rex would say, as I'm guessing he is still butt hurt that John got the job over him and has been nothing but successful with a SB win, while Rex is falling on his face in NY.
Harbaugh is not perfect (who is?), but he's a damned good coach and I'm looking forward to seeing him and the Ravens stick it up the ass of whatever idiot gave Preston that quote.Never get in a fight with a pig; you both get muddy, and the pig likes it...

I think this was being discussed in the Training Camp thread.
However, this is a good opportunity to say "Fuck Mike Preston".
Seriously, fuck that guy.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: “Now, we’ll find out if little Johnny can coach.”
I'm a little ticked at myself that i took the OP's bait ;) and actually looked at a Preston article for the first time in many years.
However, it looks like the unverified statement is a caption to a pic by Kenneth K. Lam.
Is that Preston, the editor or Lam?
The John Harbaugh Factor
( Kenneth K. Lam / Baltimore Sun / June 11, 2013 )
On the day when former Ravens great Ray Lewis announced his retirement last season, one AFC head coach said: "Now, we'll find out if little Johnny can coach." Regardless of the impressive record during his previous five seasons in Baltimore, there has always been a perception that Lewis ran the Ravens. It's unfair to Harbaugh, one of the best in the NFL, but his leadership will be under scrutiny in 2013. It's official now: This is Harbaugh's team.

Re: “Now, we’ll find out if little Johnny can coach.”
I think Preston wrote it, but it was a quote, so I doubt Preston made it up. He didn't have to print it of course, but I'm more pissed at the jackass the uttered the quote than Preston for printing it.

All youse guys who are "dissing" Preston, I'm going to defend the poor guy!
Did anyone stop to think that the Sun typesetter screwed up, and the quote actually was, "...one wannabe AFC head coach said..."

Okay. Assuming it's true, and assuming that many around the league are of the same opinion (as the photo caption implies), then I submit that this is a good thing.
The very same jackasses that think Coach H needs to prove he can coach should have no trouble voting John Harbaugh for Coach of the Year after he guides the Lewisless Ravens to their 6th straight playoff appearance. :hammer:Twenty years of Cheers.

If it really was an AFC coach, any speculation as to who?

Re: “Now, we’ll find out if little Johnny can coach.”
IF the story is even true, then the most obvious choice would, of course, be Rex. It almost fits him too well, which in itself makes me wonder about the story's veracity. I mean, this sort of thing doesn't sound like a Belicheck or Tomlin one-liner. Does anyone know of any AFC head coaches OTHER than Rex who would have an ax to grind with Harbs?
