I dunno...I can't see they had much choice. I'm among the group that believes they had a heads-up on the seriousness of the charges. So, regardless of guilt or innocence, they knew a trial was coming (and, therefore, a suspension from the league). He not only couldn't contribute to the team on the field, he would be a MAJOR distraction with TC starting in a month. Bellicheck's standard "we're concerned about the players who are here" line just was not going to work in that situation. He needed that dude OFF the team - the impact of him being on the payroll was far greater than the monies lost.

For Kraft, I think this was a moral decision. But, for BB I think it was a "coaching decision".

If true and if I were the Pats, I'd say "F you" and make Hernandez come after the rest of the money.
If they had been smarter, this would be a non-issue:

Per Ian Rappaport, the contract with AH did not include "failure to report" or "failure to perform" clauses in the base numbers, which are fairly standard and would have voided his guaranteed base salary in just this type of circumstance. How is that even possible? Did they not know about his past?

They obviously will fight this, but if they lose and have to pay, it's their own damn fault.

    Literally, no remorse.

Almost like he's done stuff like that before. Maybe he has?
I'm putting something together on this.

    He was VERY nervous.

I didn't hear how the DA stated it.

When I read about the text, I took it to be like "Hey ma! Look who I'm hanging out with!"

    Smart move nonetheless.

He looked shell shocked to me. It's like the realization of everything is starting to hit him.

Well, it should. If he's guilty, he'll likely be spending the rest of his life in jail. And you know what? Good! I'm so tired of these fucking thugs and gangster wannabes. Here's a guy with the chance of a lifetime, to overcome any poverty and to disassociate yourself with whatever bad influences you've had in your past, via a $40 million contract to play football, yet that's not enough for him. So fuck him.
