It's crazy that both the Ravens and Pats took TEs in the same draft that year and both of the Pats TEs may possibly not playing this year for reasons why they fell to the 2nd and 4th rd.

Maybe in the big picture the Ravens scouting department knew things the general public didn't know, and maybe over time the Ravens made the safer, but wiser, choices. High risk/high reward is what the Patriots seemed to have gone after, and although it has paid some short term dividends, it might not be the case in the long haul.

Re: Report: Pats TE Aaron Hernandez Questioned in Murder Probe

There is an article on SI.com stating that Hernandez had some associates that were gang members, and that made some teams take Hernandez off their draft boards.

Edit - Here is the link: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl...andez-history/

Personnel sources from multiple NFL teams tell SI that they had off-field concerns about Hernandez. In particular, the questions pertained to alleged gang activity of some of Hernandez's associates in his native Bristol, Conn. A law enforcement official familiar with Hernandez reiterated concerns about his circle of influence.

Combined, the marijuana use and gang concerns worried some NFL teams immensely.

"There were a lot of teams that had him off the board," said an NFL personnel executive.

God Damn, leaves me wondering what the Pats/Belichick would really be had Tom Brady not fell into their lap. One lucky pick/player that made the franchise legendary.

With Belicheat wearing a hoodie all the time, hernandez felt right at home with the pats. Thought bill was part of the gang.

So, the SI article proves that there is/will be a case against AH over blowing the dudes eye out. How is he not being arrested for that? I have a feeling things aren't gonna go well for Hernandez... Just a feeling and my opinion.... and you guys know those aren't always correct. lol.

Now SI is reporting the info about him allegedly shooting a man in the face. Otherwise they're keeping a lid on this thing pretty tightly; no leaks to speak of

There is a lot of evidence and investigation yet to consider. If he's guilty then he'll face justice. It's unfortunate for him and the Patriots if he is later exonerated. It's going to be a distraction Belicheck is going to hate.

This has nothing to do with Ray but gets mentioned because of how polarized some people are based off the uniform he wore, not the facts. Ray had his day in court and although the crime was never really solved, the facts don't point to Ray either. I'm not hating on the idiots. Perpetually spreading a negative and false personal indictment based off of an affiliation to a sports team is a symptom of a sad and miserable existence.

Actually I heard back when he was drafted that a number of teams stayed away from him because he had some drug issues in his past.

I wouldn't be so dismissive of the gang tatts, if that's indeed true.

You don't just stumble upon them at your local parlor.

There's a reason law enforcement takes them seriously when they see them on someone.
