It's interesting that the Patriots spokesman said no coaches were at the facility and they didn't know why Hernandez was there.
that is extremely odd the more I think about it. He knows theres a media circus at his door, why leave for no reason?

I was concerned that was going to turn into another Jovan Bechler situation. My thinking yesterday was that he just went to lift weights and try to keep some normalcy while all this is going on. He probably knew the arrest warrant was coming soon, wanted to keep his mind off it.

that is possible. I guess in a rather large house of a pro athlete its possible they skimped on the home gym.

sent my Pats friend a text and just said 'don't be hanging around that Hernandez kid'. He sent me some interesting responses. Not at all happy and he lives in Attelboro too.... it's ugly

Goodell and Kraft are tight...it will be interesting to see how he eventually reacts/decides. Of course, criminal law trumps all, but any trial could be a ways off. Maybe the only smart thing AH has done since Monday was to not flee...they would be holding him in county for awhile behind this charge, if he had fled.

No matter what, his chances of still being a Patriot come 2014 (maybe even sooner) are pretty low. I guess that's all I really care about. A weaker playoff foe.

You don't have to rely on a media report to know that the image conscious league will be quick to keep him off the field.

If you're picking the time and place, that's premeditated murder 1. Most times, things just happen when and where they happen.

Pretty good break down of the type of sanctions AH may face if found guilty of the obstruction charge ....

This may not even be Goodell's call. Hernandez isn't going to be able to play while a trial is going on, unless his lawyer can SOMEHOW convince a judge to postpone the trial until his playing time is on hold. I can't see it happening.

In Ray's case...the crime happened in January 2000. The trial started late May 2000. That would put Hernandez's trial in November 2013. Maybe he's granted special exemption to play before his trial, but I just don't see it. He's going to be needing time to prepare with his legal team and make court appearances.

Depending on the judgement, then it will be interesting to see how he's disciplined. Ray was fined 250k, but I believe he missed no games.

Full disclosure ASB, I paraphrased this to the comments section of PFT's latest article.

It's a perfect summation and wanted to make sure you got the proper attribution.

    Once upon a time...

This is from last summer --> http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/...on-sources-say

(a portion of the article is here)
Hernandez, appearing at the Patriots' annual Charitable Foundation Kickoff Gala in the Putnam Club at Gillette Stadium on Monday night, was clearly thrilled and emotional about the contract extension.

"I knew it was coming, just cause, when Gronk (Rob Gronkowski) got it, I knew there was a good chance I was next in line," he said. "Now that it happened, it's definitely a blessing, and take it in, I'm excited to go on with my life.

"As soon as we started talking about contracts, I was emotional from that day on," he continued. "Honestly, it's hard for me here (at the gala) to stay, keeping my mind off it, and it's just, like I said, it's surreal. Probably when I'm done with this conversation I'll get some tears in my eyes. But it's real, and it's an honor."

Upon agreeing to the extension, Hernandez made a charitable gesture that Patriots owner Robert Kraft appreciated.

"One of the touching moments since I've known the team -- knowing that this is our charitable gala tonight -- Aaron came into my office, a little teary-eyed and presented me with a check for $50,000 to go to Myra Kraft Giving Back Fund," Kraft said. "I said 'Aaron, you don't have to do this, you've already got your contract.' And he said 'No, it makes me feel good and I want to do it.' "
