That's surprising. I know he's starting to get a bit long in the tooth, but he was one of the better backs in the NFL last year when healthy. Ball must have looked good enough in shorts and shells that they thought they could live without McGahee and his bigger cap number.

cap move? They have Knowshon Moreno, who FINALLY started to deliver for them last year, and Hillman and Lance Ball. Added Montee Ball to the mix.

I guess Hillman and Moreno delivered enough last year.

Wrong side of thirty for Willis and they are indeed crowded out there in DEN.
For trivia's sake, he has probably had one of the better "post-Ravens" careers (albeit brief, to-date) of all of our roster releases.
Someone will find value in him this summer.

Willis definitely hit his stride when in Baltimore and played well in Denver. Despite him being slightly past his prime, I look for another team to offer him a multi-year deal.

Not really a Cap move, as they had nearly $9M in Cap space coming into today.

So, they certainly didn't need Cap space (like the Ravens with Leach).

That said, I guess they aren't expecting him to be worth what they were slated to pay him and they feel confident in the other guys - although Moreno is still recovering from a knee injury.

There's also the possibility that his absence from OTAs, until this week, might have factored in.

My brother lives in Denver and has told me that's been a big topic out there. It was not a smart thing for McGahee to do knowing how many runningbacks were on that roster.

I haven't been a fan of any of Denver's offseason moves so far.

If a player thought that played a role couldn't he have some sort of legal grounds?

No, mainly because it's really impossible to prove.
