Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
If Leach does come back to the Ravens, I would think that Ozzie would like to have that deal done before TC starts. Hopefully, we hear something over the next 10 days.

Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
There's an article logging on to this site called news and notes and it says the longer
Leach stays un-signed the better chance of his returning and Leach said last week he
talks to Oz once pr week, so he's still open.
It would be just like Ozzie to sign him the day before the season starts like he has done
with others on Ozzie's terms, of course.

Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
Ideally, Leach comes back here on a 1-2 year deal for vet minimum.

Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
They could always IR Furstenburg or put him on the PS.
I doubt he'd get signed off the PS.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
Furstenburg? He's long odds to make the PS, Leach or no Leach. Any third TE needs to be able to be at least a mediocre blocker like Bajema. Furstenburg ain't that.
Honestly it is hard to see where Furstenburg will get enough touches in training camp to force his way even onto the PS. The team will be developing a bunch of 12 formations that Pitta and Dickson will need to learn and Juice will have a swivel on his head just learning the system. Bajema will soak up the back-up touches. Those three will take all the quality touches in camp and exhibition games.
For the Ravens, if one or both of Pitta and Dickson leave via free agency next offseason, next year's draft will see TE being a priority. Furstenburg's timing is a year too early.

Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
They'll find a way to keep Furstenburg even if they have to IR him IMO. Both Pitta and Dickson weren't known to be good blockers when they were drafted. In the league now, there is more emphasis on running routes and catching passes as a TE which are what Furstenburg is good at. They can work with him on his blocking.
Dickson - Is one dimensional, contributing mainly as a receiver. Is an upright runner, causing his routes to be raw and choppy. Not a good blocker. Lacks bulk. Dickson is an intriguing prospect because of his size and athletic ability
Pitta - The 6-foot-5 Pitta is extremely reliable. Catches passes extremely well on the run and over his shoulders. Can make the acrobatic reception. Has adequate size and speed (4.73). Comes back to the quarterback well. Is a decent threat after the catch. Is an average blocker who has the potential to match up well in-line. Must improve blocking technique. Needs to play with better leverage. Lacks a mean streak.Last edited by Paintballguy; 07-08-2013 at 08:32 PM.

Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
tend to agree with Paintball on Furstenburg... blocking is not that difficult to teach if he has the other skills. He's a big strong body so it's just about leverage and positioning. I hope he makes the team

Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
I just feel like furstenburg would get snatched up quickly if he was put on the ps. He had multiple offers and got a big bonus from the ravens for a udfa.

Re: Goodbye Vonta Leach
He was mostly used as a blocking TE at Maryland.
I think the notion that Furstenburg can't block is a little overblown. The truth is none of us really know what he is capable of because MD's offense was so bad the past few years.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.
