Liberals are not trying to "extend more rights to more people." Completely false premise.
And as has been said already, before any actual discussion begins one needs to get on the same page about the differences between rights and privileges (in terms of the Constitution or in general).

I don't believe Birk is in the "wrong" by not attending. As others have said above, he is entitled to his opinion. If he does not want to visit the WH and be congratulated by the President, that's up to him. Yeah he faced some scrutiny, but at the end of the day, who cares? Birk made the decision he felt was best for him. I don't have a problem with it.
