...so, what if your all-pro player goes down midway through the season?

This is just too much of an absolute statement.

Absolutes do not absolutely apply to the NFL...or any sport for that matter.

Otherwise the Ravens wouldn't have won the SB this year, in the regular season they had middle of the road rankings on both sides of the ball, none of that mattered in the play offs, and it didn't matter to the Giants the year before who had a similar story.

Or the Packers the year before that

You're only as good as a subjective evaluation of your prior history, current talent, and untapped potential as expressed by the system you play in with the talent around you says you are to each individual attempting to rate you.

But that's not nearly as catchy.

I think Purple was being sarcastic.

He was on Norri.. or.. Davis and Haney? this morning and basically said, Eli can't help him win games anymore, and all he cares about are the guys in his locker room.

Non-issue. If Kruger didn't say Weeden was better than Flacco he would be roasted every week. Same goes for any other player who switched teams.

OTOH, if MY team has Flacco and he's the reigning SB champ.....
Makes him better then Peyton also if you want to use that argument.

Hope Canty holds up on his end, getting the ball back for the offense to let Flacco do his thing. Not worried about who's better, Just let the Ravens win and make another appearance in postseason. That's where Flacco does his best and the Ravens can be happy.

It is sometimes hard to judge if someones being sarcastic or not on a message board, especially when its stated as bluntly as that.

Hey, there is a pretty sweet and handy "sarcasm" icon available for use on this forum.

Helps folks pick up on subtle nuances of sarcasm.
