A few thoughts come to mind.
I understand the University made a point to alert their employees about the cause and effect of the Sandusky case but I don't see anything in the article, other than reporter speculation, this was an overreaction on those lines.
If anything, this was an overreaction on the part of the prosecutor. Having a wife who is labor and employment attorney, I see things through the prism now. So the university doesn't know what they have in terms of the video's. They were well within their right to suspend him until they figure it out. They are not the child porn experts, so they deferred to law enforcement. I would have questioned him at this point but maybe there's a hard policy in place regarding porn. That makes sense to me as well, since I am sure there are policies in place against have nude images on a work place cell phone.
It was the prosecutor, jumping to a huge conclusion, who decided to ruin this guys life.

Me too. I got slapped on the wrist back when the net was new reading sports-lol. We even
had a little agency pool going on but after I was slapped I was supposed to get a new PC but the supervisor took mine and gave me her old one. I went in and saw all kinds of gambling sites on it. She gambled on hers. I got a friend from the computer room to wipe it clean so no one could blame me just in case it was a set up-lol.
One guy got caught when the Commanding General walked in and saw child porno on his screen. He was gone in two minutes and 25 years went out the window.
Oliver North got caught on the Contras scandal even after he deleted evidence. He didn't know about hard drives and they were still in there and could be pulled out and
checked-lol.

Yes, I would agree that the prosecutor was guilty of the overreaction and that the University was correct in reporting a possible incident.
It will be interesting to see if the mysterious "secondary investigation" by the university, which resulted in them firing him, will shed any light on their actions. How do you fire someone without telling them why they are being fired?
