Re: Best and Worst Interactions with NFL Players?
I met Flacco at camp. It was his second one and I tried to get an autograph but he wouldn't give it to adult males - only kids and females. I said come on Joe, I'm honoring your name on a message board and spend over $100 pr game to watch you play and he didn't even look at me, just kept signing for the little kids. I didn't have any but the fathers got their kids to get his autograph.
Man, I was pissed. I was close enough to whack Joe in the side of the head and give him a concussion and knock him out for the season and go to prison and be the most hated man in Baltimore-lol.
My brother had an experience with him too. He sells Apple computers in Christiana Mall which is next door to U of Delaware. Joe obviously hangs out up there and walked into
the store to buy a computer. The sales staff tripped over themselves to wait on Joe who
seemed a little arrogant to my brother. He just laughed and said JOe had a real attitude.
Meanwhile, the same day Joe refused to sign, Ray signed my #52 which is hanging in
my man cave and my Super Bowl 35 hat and so did Ed Reed.
I also met Billick at camp years ago. It was an hour after everyone left and I was walking
on the practice field taking pics and someone yelled, hey, get off that field. I looked around
and it was Billick-lol.
I said sorry coach as SAFE ran over to escort me out of the place but I said how about a pic with me coach and he said sure. The safe guy took it. A couple of years later I took it to the Roosts bull roast where I sat with Admin Greg, Fanatic and Mista T of this board. Billick was one of the guests but Steve Schlossberg told me he wasn't coming.
Bisciotti asked him to go to a Terps basketball game with him and sent his limo. Billick left
2,000 people stranded and he was roundly booed by all the Skins fans down there.
He got what he deserved for leaving us stranded. He didn't even tell anyone he wasn't coming but that pic is hanging in my cave anyway.Last edited by AirFlacco; 05-19-2013 at 03:50 PM.

Re: Best and Worst Interactions with NFL Players?
That's a great story and here's the history behind Arty's liquor stores. He had no idea
what he was gonna do when he retired. Like he told Letterman, I went to college to play
football, not get an education. He had no education or experience at all but he had a fan
whom he didn't even know who loved him and left him those stores when he died.
One was on Rt 40 I think and the other was across town. Art managed one and his wife
managed the other. They were successful his wife sold them and bought the Maryland Country Club on Stevenson Lane in Towson. They still own it. Once Arty fell in the
swimming pool while it was empty when he was trying to clean it and it took the entire fire dept to pull him out. True.

Re: Best and Worst Interactions with NFL Players?
MY Brother in Law works at the five guys near Stevenson's field... He says Joe is not only a regular, but down to Earth and very approachable. Lot's of Raven's in and out fo there.
The problem is the adult male asking fo ran autograph. I wouldn't sign for adult males either... creepy, to bordering on questioning if the person was getting it to sell

Re: Best and Worst Interactions with NFL Players?
Yea, a lot of players don't like to sign. McNair wouldn't sign for us either. There were a bunch of fans behind the bench yelling Steve, Steve and he just waved and walked by. Some players think every adult male is gonna sell their autograph and some actually do and might get $25 or more.
Matte was the coolest former Colt I ever met. He was at the Ravens draft day party they used to have at the stadium broadcasting the draft with Tom Davis, another cool dude. After everyone left I talked to him and he let me try on his SB ring. It was like a monument to the hand and not even as big as the Ravens ring which I also tried on and that was after I asked him if SB 3 was fixed. Matte said yea, and Bubba fixed it. He hated Bubba after he wrote a book that the game was fixed and Bubba wasn't invited to the 25th anniversary party of the game and people think Pollard has an attitude-lol. Bubba just died in his late 60s.
Nest 1 always had tons of Ravens drop in to speak. The used to come for free and then they got greedy and we had to pay them $300 even though we raised over $100,000 for charity in their name. DeCosta came every year a week after the draft. We're only allowed one question each but I got about 20 questions in one sentence. The president said TRap,
you covered the entire draft and get more info than anyone in the club. Now we know that
Ozzie had no intention of drafting weapons for Flacco. He wanted Oher. He's my favorite player.
Jeff Mitchell came to one of our parties after SB 35 and I said you guys have it easy. You can use your hands. When I played we couldn't on the line. He said yea, I know and he held up his fists and mimicked blocking with the fore arms. I told him my coach gave us marbles to hold in practice and if he saw any on the ground it meant we were holding and he laughed. Several years later Mitchell got called out for steroids use with the Panthers.
We didn't have them back in the 60s either-lol.
Speaking of Tom Davis, he used to hang out with us at Wurlitzers in Hunt Valley during the 90s. It was the yuppiest place in town. Guys used to dress up then in 3-piece business suits and gals actually wore dresses. I wasn't one but walked the walk and talked the talk and my Vette got me a lot of dates. He had the best looking blonde in the place too and he was flashing $100 bills around the bar. He does the Orioles shows for ComCast now.
The day I talked to Matte, I said Tom, you used to hang out at Wurlitzers and you had the hottest blonde in the place. All I want to know is, do you still have the blonde and he said yea. He looked at Matte and laughed his ass off.
King Singleton used to come in there too after he retired and he was really cool to talk to.
He was broadcasting games then and said baseball looks a lot slower up here folks. LOLLast edited by AirFlacco; 05-19-2013 at 06:40 PM.

Re: Best and Worst Interactions with NFL Players?
Yes that was always true. It was during the Heap draft and I had my nephews at the draft day party at the stadium and Jordan who was 8 got Ray's autograph. He gave him a paper for me and a man behind him hit him and pushed him down. Ray saw it and walked away from everyone. I would have killed him if I saw it.
But Ray and Reed always signed. They stood out in the blistering heat that day signing when Joe wouldn't and Reed love to hold babies and have his pic taken with them. Heap always signed as did Jamal.
I was about to get Jamal's autograph when SAGE walked up with a TV camera and mike to interview him and I said come on Sage, we're trying to get his autograph. I got his on my SB 35 hat.
I got both the winning and losing coach's signatures on the hat which is also in my cave. Also got Ozzie's when he walked by me before practice started. After Faisel arrived he left practice and walked up the steps by the gym where I always sat and he signed the hat.
I said coach, when are you going to get Boller to stop telegraphing his throws. He said what makes you think he's doing that. I said he stares down the receiver. Every fan in town knows that. That was the day after Reed intercepted 2 passes in practice and Reed said he just followed the QB, ie, his eyes.
So Faisel said well he's not telegraphing his throws and left but I couldn't understand why he left practice when his unit went into the gym to eat. He must have been trying to line up his next coaching job because Billick fired him like HARBs fired CAM.
Anyway, Im watching Comcast the next night and Faisel and Boller were wired and Faisel said today we're gonna get you to stop telegraphing your throws.
It's pretty bad when a fan describes in detail how you're telegraphing.
What do you think the defenses are doing?
ILMAO - He was talking about me.
Faisel was a cool dude though. I know some fans who flew out to a game in Indy and
were waiting for a cab. Faisel stood near them waiting for a limo and he saw them
staring at him. When the limo arrive he yelled jump in and I'll give you a lift and he
took them to their hotels.
When he coached NY during 911 he adopted the kids of a firemen who died in the
building. He had 9 kids and Faisel said he would always pay for all their expenses
for the rest of their lives including their college tuitions.
Hell of a nice guy.Last edited by AirFlacco; 05-19-2013 at 10:21 PM.
