They would have either gotten there just in time to help or just after the attack. In my opinion it would have been the latter.

Having been in the Navy, I can tell you first hand that we can dispatch jets in a short period of time. Would it have done anything? Who knows, but a couple of fighters flying overhead dropping some hardware may have scared them off and saved some lives in the process.

They'll launch a shit load of Tomahawks into Libya from the Med when they want to take out Qadaffi...

    Just saying...something doesnt add up.

Oh, and I can also state with 100% confidence that the President does not find shit out from the news.

I've seen fighters launched within 5 minutes of notification. But they were sitting alert. At the time, we didn't have anything on alert.

The biggest problem with AFRICOM is that we have no assigned forces. So anytime we want to do something be it short notice or not, we have to request support from the DOD (RFF). Even the smallest of operations have to be precoordinated. If we had assigned forces we could respond more quickly. Just task an unit. Of have units tasked to stand alert for certain areas of Africa. Or preposition forces. Nope we can't do anything like that.

Ditto about the President. He ain't fooling anybody with that.

This is still being reported as a politically motivated investigation.

The talking points have become a political flashpoint in a long-running battle between the administration and Republicans, who accuse it of not bolstering security before the attack, of botching the response to it and of misleading the public for political gain less than two months before the November election.
Nothing serious will come of this. Hell, the administration is wire-tapping and reading the press' own e-mail and still they do nothing but continue to be subservient to and a mouthpiece of the administration.

They don't want to risk being taken off the guest list of that next cocktail party, you know.
