Re: UDFA Intel
Tate's knee is done. Such a shame. He really looked bad trying to play this year. His instincts were still there but he couldn't get himself into positions because of his damaged mobility. Sad story too.
When I was in high school he played for rival DeMatha; he was the best athlete I've seen in high school bar none. Dominant basketball player in his junior year (until he stopped playing to focus on football) and a 6'4'' receiver who ran a 4.45 in high school? Dude was ridiculous.
Then he kept it up at Maryland, creating a role for himself as a 6'4'' SS who could run like a free safety. He looked like a sure-fire first rounder till he blew out his knee playing pick up basketball.

Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.
