seeing as my options were Jason Elam and not Matt I went with armstead but in reality, its Elam. I think hes the BPA of those listed. I think the pick is going to come down to T or S and which one is BPA. Elam makes that choice easy.

I'm changing my pick to Jonathan Cyprien.

I watched some more tape of him over the weekend and I have changed my tune on the guy. He plays faster than Elam, is bigger (6'1" 218lbs), and he is just as good in coverage and against the run.

I don't know that the Ravens would use the 32nd pick on him, but I could see the moving down a few notches and taking Cyprien. Good player.

I like him better than Elam as well. Cyprien plays the way the league is forcing safeties to play. He has good size but is focused on coverage more than hitting. A safety needs to be physical against these huge tight ends and receivers who work the middle but they have to think like a DB first and not like a linebacker.

Elam is more of a classic strong safety. He reminds me of Ernie Sims. Sims was a top 10 pick back in 2006 and is now on his 4th team. If this was 10 years ago Elam would be the guy you want. With the way the game is played now I'd rather go with Cyprien.

I dont think either are a liability in either area so Elam being a better run stopper doesnt mean he cant cover at an nfl ability and vice versa for Cyprian. Size wise i do like Cyprien better but it seems to me that Elam is more of a playmaker. guess id rather have either over the others listed.

You add Vaccaro is he really a notch above those two? i think the top 3-4 safeties are very comparable.

I'd still take Hopkins if those were the choices but I wouldn't be unhappy with several of the other choices.

TE is HUGE now in the NFL --- Why wouldn't several teams want him in 1st round ?

Cyprien, Elam, and Hopkins are the only ones that enter the discussion for me.

Armstead is only seemingly an option because of the expected run on OTs in the first. He's a reach at that point. I don't see a need for Williams, given Ngata's move inside. I don't think there's a lot of value in getting a 2nd tight end with a first round pick. And Minter likely wouldn't be my highest rated ILB at that point in the draft.

Safety is definitely a need, so Cyprien and Elam would be solid picks. But given the investment just made in Joe, I think the most prudent course would be to replace his favorite target from last year.

FWIW, Ozzie and Eric don't see Te'o's "girlfriend" situation as an issue at all. They disagree with the common media line that the situation was an issue at all. What was the issue? It wasn't a DUI. It wasn't abuse/assault. Harbs said they researched Te'o's character, family and background and are comfortable with Te'o.

Also...Ozzie said there's a safety in each round that they could take. Relevant to this thread...

I voted for Hopkins, because of the void created by the Boldin trade. However, if there is one position where Ozzie seems to have a blind spot it is WR. He has rarely hit on drafting WRs, which is why I could also see the Ravens taking a S (Elam, Cyprian) in Round 1, and then coming back with a WR in Round 2. DaRick Rodgers would be an interesting pick in the second or third round.

I have seen them saying the same thing about Bellicheck on the draft shows on both ESPN and the NFL Network. They said he even admits to having a blind spot at the position, and that is why he goes for veteran receivers. It is funny when you think Ozzie learned from him and all of the vet receivers we have brought in/traded for over the years. They also noted that is why they will not project a first round wr for the Pats even though it is their biggest need.

I still have visions of Pitta replacing Boldin. He is similar in a lot of ways, I just don't know if he can currently reproduce the route precision but the chemistry he has with Joe should make that easier.

That is why I chose Eifert (but doubt if he is still there). A TE that can contribute, a shift to slot for Pitta, and Dickson stays the 2nd TE because we took a primary with the 1st (and Pitta's replacement at FA if need be).
But again I doubt Eifert makes it past the low 20's
