Tommy Streeter...
What are the odds he sees some playing time this year?
I've been pretty high on the guy since I watched him play at the U.

Re: Tommy Streeter...
He'll definitely get a shot. I think he'll make the final 53 as well.
Being on the active game-day rosters? Not sure about that yet. I think he would have had to REALLY improve in order to crack the top 5 on the depth chart.
Still, his size alone is something the Ravens don't have. I would LOVE to see this guy put it together and become a #2/#3 guy pushing Doss into the Y receiver position. He was just so raw last year. The odds are against him ever realizing his full potential.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Tommy Streeter...
Our WR depth is quite suspect. No matter who we draft, the 3rd and 4th slots are completely up for grabs. Streeter needs to demonstrate that he knows the offense (this is what kept Doss on the sidelines), can stay healthy (this is what kept Reed on the sidelines) and make the tough catch (this is where both Doss and LaQuan have disappointed; albeit within small sample sizes).

Re: Tommy Streeter...
Have to believe every WR on the roster presently and whomever they draft will be given plenty of chances to show what they can do in Camp and Preseason. Who knows right now? I do think he has an uphill battle to make the roster when you factor in we'll almost certainly be drafting one, if not two, and we probably only have two spots that aren't locked in. To clarify that, I think Smith, Jones, and Doss are all obvious locks, and I think David Reed is a pretty safe bet to make the roster, since the staff seems to really like him, but that can always change when we get to July and August if a guy really lights it up. Don't see them carrying more than 6 WRs, even if Jones is more of a specialist.

Re: Tommy Streeter...
Exactly. If the Ravens spend a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a WR, chances are that guy is going to make it as well, and I'm not sure I would put Doss in the "lock" category just yet. But guys like Streeter, Williams, Thompson - they are all probably on the outside looking in at this point. But it's still March.

Re: Tommy Streeter...
Streeter will get an opportunity to show what he can do. If he produces he will be around. There will be healthy competition for the #3 on down spots @ WR on this roster. That is something I like so long as one or hopefully two of them emerges.

Re: Tommy Streeter...
Is anyone else really excited about Deonte Thompson? The guy looks pretty damn good to me. Granted, I live in PA so I was only able to see one preseason game, but he looked really crisp, quick, and made catches with his hands, not body.

I think they both will be around especially if Streeter put the work in as far as route running and catching. I disagree with them both being the same type player solely on Streeter being a better RZ threat based on size. They both are fast but I would think one is better out wide n the other in the slot

Re: Tommy Streeter...
Dunno....I am very skeptical.
Last pre-season saw Streeter being way, way behind the other WR's and really not good at all. Didn't use his speed to separate, 5'9" CB's were out jumping him for the ball, etc. He was lucky to get on the practice squad. At this point he has mini-bust written all over him: a waste of a 6th round pick. He should have stayed in school another year.
So for him to make the 53 man team this year he has to do two things:
1) Make up the sizable gap to the other WR's on the team, mainly LaQuan Williams who was the lowest WR on the depth chart and,
2) If the team drafts any WR, particularly a high draft pick, then he has to beat out in addition to Williams, Reed or Thompson too.
And it isn't just being a good wide receiver that will get him on the team as Thompson, Williams, and particularly Reed have proven to be decent special team players too.
Odds of all this happening....20% maybe? More like 10% I'd say.
My prediction for next year's WR corps: Torrey, Jacoby, draft pick, Doss, Reed, & Thompson with Laquan and Streeter on the bubble and Steeter probably a 2nd year on the practice squad.

Another D Will if you ask me. Another "what if".

Re: Tommy Streeter...
I think people arent giving him enough credit. He didnt show the big plays that Thompson did, but he also didnt look "bad", merely average. As green as he was, id say that was actually a positive. I think it was a lot closer to him making the team, instead of IR which is another sign the team was high on him, than just Thompson out playing him. He got bumped because of his lack of STs imo. The guys going to find a niche on this team, especially now that Boldin is gone, in the RZ. People can question his hands, his routes, his whatever, but at the end of the day something that has always shown up on tape is his ability to go up and get a ball in the RZ. I trust our coaches, and when they say theyre "happy with the progress hes made as a player", im going to go ahead and say thats a good enough sign that hell show something more.
Its possible we use a high draft pick, but if we use under a 3rd on a WR does that really remove Streeter from the equation? at that point theyre both developmental guys and not day 1 impact, and chances are the guy we get this year wont be 6'5 with a sub 4.4 40 to start with. Hes the type of guy you give a little extra shot to, because frankly hes the prototypical #1 WR for this league and you rarely get a chance at those guys.-JAB
