4 Gay Players Might Come Out
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/r...,5781613.story
Ayanbadejo, who was given recognition along with Kluwe from former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue at the event Thursday night, predicted that more than one player may come out as gay during their playing career. Ayanbadejo said the groundwork is being laid to reduce the pressure on such a player, and said as many as four players could conceivably come out simultaneously.
"I think it will happen sooner than you think," Ayanbadejo said. "We're in talks with a handful of players who are considering it. There are up to four players being talked to right now and they're trying to be organized so they can come out on the same day together. It would make a major splash and take the pressure off one guy. It would be a monumental day if a handful or a few guys come out.

Good to hear. I think its one of those things that will help end any stigma. Just by basic percentages youd expect there to be a good many of them really. 1696 roster players, 4% of the population, equals 68 potentially in the NFL. Granted That number will be considerably lower given the sample and rarity of the sport itself but i wouldnt be surprsied if there was 20 or so.

"A lot" is a two word expression denoting a great deal or greatly, as in "I like sunshine a lot." "Alot" is a lovable imaginary grammar monster. You can love a lot; you can love an alot; you can love alots a lot; but they are not the same thing.

This belongs in the non-Ravens football forum. Not the politics forum.

Re: 4 Gay Players Might Come Out
I am glad that Mr. Ayanbadejo cleared up the speculation that the decision to cut him was about his activism. He confirmed that it was purely a football decision and he agreed with it.
As far as his prediction on players "coming out" i don't see how a person's sexual habits has anything to do with football. Those that do it it have that right under the law but I think it's gross to bring it out in public and cause some people to have a gross mental image when they are watching their favorite game. It's a private matter. By all means do what you feel is natural to you but at least have the decency to keep it to yourself.
I believe strongly in live and let live, but I think it's unecessary that some folks feel they have to constantly bring it up in every facet of our lives.Twenty years of Cheers.

Respectfully, it belongs here.
While its involving football players, the prevailing topic is about coming out.
It's a hot button issue, one that has garnered strong reactions from both sides, thus its home is this forum. This area isn't just for politics. It's also for issues such as this.

Re: 4 Gay Players Might Come Out
:word
If people who are gay, and people who want people who are gay to stop being treated as if it's taboo, than stop making news about being gay as if it's some big fucking deal.
Geez.... you're gay, so what? Now go tackle that guy, go home and be with who you love like everyone else regardless of sexual preference.

Re: 4 Gay Players Might Come Out
how do we know it isnt relative to the Ravens?
I think you have a good point about it not effecting football regardless. If my favorite player came out as gay, hed still be my favorite player. However the "keep it private because it grosses me out" concept is purely the opposite thought process. Now its effecting you by thinking about it so they cant be honest with themselves and their fans? Its not about anybody else but them really. No reason to hide or be ashamed of who they are to protect somebody elses feelings.-JAB
