Re: Open at Denver or Chi? or home vs Pitt or Miami

While I think it will be Denver, Chicago is an intriguing possibility. I don't think it will happen, though, because these season openers have always been intraconference affairs, I believe. The big angle, though, is how much the NFL really wants to stick it to MLB that night. I mean, Ravens-Bears opening the season? Enjoy the ratings for that White Sox-O's game, Bud.

Ravens at Broncos would be the biggest ratings draw. Although I'd much rather play Manning in cold weather.

went to college up in chicago, would love to make an excuse to visit some old buddies!

I would have to be the Broncos or Steelers. That's where the ratings are

I have to imagine that Bisciotti would object to (another) Steeler prime-time home game and that I would hope the league would at least give the Ravens that fig leaf. Agree that it is all about ratings. So probably Denver.

Like to see Denver or Chicago, doubt it will be Pittsburgh ( wont send Ravens to open on a Thursday AT Pittsburgh, plus Ravens played the Steelers in Pittsburgh the first game of the series last year, they usually rotate that) Chicago would be nice.

It will be Chicago. Larger fan base and tv market.

A rematch with Denver with all the story lines is a much bigger draw nationally than Ravens vs. Chicago. It will be Denver in week 1, take that to the bank.

What the hell do Chicago have to do with us? What possible story line could you create out of that?

I would love to open up at Chicago , but I don't see how you could create a storyline out of that.

If we were to open at Denver, would it make sense to head over as early as possible? Even send some of the starters who won't see any Preason Game 4 action on ahead a few days before the rest join up, to get used to the altitude with the heat.

I know we've played there fine in the past, but if it's hot then this will give Denver, who will have been training in it for months, a even greater advantage than they would usually have.

Whatever happens, it will be good to get the hardest game of the season out of the way, win or lose.
