Re: Report: Dumervil Agrees to Deal with the Ravens

I assume the $8.5 in year one means a Signing Bonus in year one? Weird way for Schefter to phrase it.

    I can't see a $8.5M cap hit in 2013.

Interested to see the numbers, but we just replaced the 27-year old Kruger with the 29-year old Dumervil, very possibly for cheaper.

Heck, even at the same price, or even for more - Huge upgrade!

I'd imagine the last year or 2 is full of money he will never see....5 years helps spread out what is probably a $7 million bonus.

His cap number likely will come in around $2.5 million this year.

Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

@JaysonBraddock: Veterans Suggs & Dumervil to mentor 2nd year pass rushers Courtney Upshaw & Adrian Hamilton. Fresh pass rush every down.

Yes...when reporters like Shefter report how much money the player receives over the first couple years, they are talking about cash and not cap.

Last night, my step daughter was in a hit and run with a drunk driver. Today, found out me bank account was hacked, and have a zero balance. Then my washing machine took a shit.

    This cheered me up!!!!!!

5/35, so that 7 mil number posted last night/this AM was about dead on. Guessing that we structured a low year 1 cap number, but I would say not to expect much more FA movement now. This was a big move, but I can't see us adding much more and straining that cap figure.

Maybe just Huff or Dansby, not both.

@SI_PeterKing: Very favorable cap cost to Baltimore on Elvis in year one: about $2.5 million.
