Re: Cary Williams to Philadelphia
Exactly. It's not as if they had the 2000 Ravens or 1985 Bears out there. There may be a slight decline, but not as much as people think. And there might actually be an improvement. Upshaw seems ready to go, they signed Canty and already improved the D-line, and there is still the draft.
The cupboard is not really bare, and there is time to restock it. It's March.

Re: Cary Williams to Philadelphia
They are rebuilding on defense alright. As someone said, that was not a Ravens D last year. It was sickening to see SF just score at will in the second half of the SB. Fortunately the D was able to make a play or two on that last goal stand, helped along by terrible, choking play-calling by SF.
The only move so far that has been debatable has been Boldin. However, seeing Boldin badmouth the organization on the media today, after getting a ring and a very favorable trade from said organization, helps you a lot towards understanding this move.
A question: how many compensatory picks the Ravens will get from NFL after all is said and done? It must be a few with all these players signing elsewhere. The Ravens should be really stocked with picks at the draft.

Re: Cary Williams to Philadelphia
Agreed. It's more depth than anything else.
At CB: Were getting Webb back to start with Smith and Graham.
At OLB: We have Suggs and Upshaw returning as starters. Depth will be needed.
At DE: Ngata, McPhee, and Tyson are coming back along with the addition of Canty.
At NT: Cody is coming back, but we could pick up a vet in FA.
I don't see a huge drop off either.

Good for Cary!! :respect
I can still remember when he was ST/last resort CB. A couple of us on here talked back then about how when he actually got in on D, he seemed to have the right basic idea and looked like he kind of knew what he was doing out there, for a guy who was bottom of the depth chart. Turned out great for him. Glad to see. IIRC he was on our PS way back, and now... $10M guaranteed. Way to work it, Cary! Nicely done!
Now don't spend it all in one place!!

Glad to see the cary haters didnt really show up here. I figured hed get around 20, so if its 19 instead of 17, he pretty much got what i figured. Cary was solid for us and a big reason why we ended up winning. Im happy for another late round guy that had to work his way up.

Good for Cary. More power to him. And not at all surprising.
So, the Eagles, Browns, and Dolphins are all competing for the Offseason Super Bowl once again. What are the odds any of these three make the playoffs at the end of the real season?

He probably got more guaranteed money than what Baltimore offered him.
