Has there been any word from the Ravens brass?

Just saying...it would be kind of nice if they had just a quick presser to put to rest some of these claims and get an idea of where they're going.

Re: Has there been any word from the Ravens brass?

They announced it just a few minutes ago (the Pollard release), paraphrased by many twitter sources.

Shockingly, it said really nothing. Just thanked him for being the type of player we expected when we signed him, and thanked him for helping us win the SB.

That's not the way they operate. You heard Ozzie say at the "state of the team" press conference that the Ravens were aiming to be competitive in the long term and wouldn't restructure a bunch of deals just to keep the 2012 championship team together for one more run at the expense of 2014 and beyond. So far the moves have backed that up.

Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Except for the fact that Pollard was already signed and cutting him only gives them a net savings of $500K this year. So the team's previous statement about not going to extreme spending measures to retain the Super Bowl players can't really be applied to the Pollard shitcanning.

Hence, the speculation that he must have been a locker room cancer, or couldn't cover, or spit on Ozzie's wife, or whatever other theory might get hatched on a message board. Speculation that could have been killed if they explained the move.

In the end, any harm in not explaining themselves is outweighed by whatever benefit they see in staying secretive about their strategy.

Or, more simply, if his bad ass attitude or iffy pass coverage is really the reason to dump him, it's better for Pollard's sake not to say that publicly. Why crap on him after you just put him on the unemployment line? They are being respectful.

The only thing I want to hear is who our LT is for next year. To be honest, that is the main thing that is making me nervous as hell. I think we can find decent replacements for all other positions, but LT is something I do not want to gamble on.

I just do not want to see Oher back on the left side!

It looks they just release a statement after whatever releases they make.

Do you really expect the team to come out and say that winning this year is not their priority? That theyare going to gut the team this year because they have goodwill saved up from the fans after their SB win? That tey are handing the team to John Harbaugh and letting him get rid of anyone that doesn't follow in line and submit to his overwhelming power?

Exactly what they said. I guess the sarcasm was not detected in that post.

So you think Ozzie is going to stand up in front of the podium and say "yeah, we cut Bernard because he's a malcontent" just to set the fans' mind at ease?

Not expecting it nor do I want them to do something like it. No need to let out for the 31 other teams what your plan is or what is going on inside right now. Would I like answers to the questions just about everyone has right now? Of course...I just don't want the rest of the league knowing why they are doing the things they are...guessing that all will become clear in time.
