Good for Cary. I am happy for him.

I agree...he got a LOT of unnecessary flak here IMHO so I'm glad he went out and got himself some good guaranteed money.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Other than Pollard though you'd have to have had your head in the ground to not see the possibility of everyone else being gone next year.

Not really, since he played this year for $2 million when he could have been working on the first year of that $15 million contract.

Cary's so called gamble paid off it seems. Good for him

This year's draft is very deep with defensive talent. And we have 12 picks.

Ozzie knows exactly what he is doing. Enjoy being champions for a year while we reload.

Seriously, why are you acting surprised with any of this? Everyone knew Kruger and Williams were gone, and Reed and Ellerbe had a good shot at getting overpaid (which is exactly what happened). The only one that you really didn't see coming was Pollard.

And Boldin... and honestly I thought we'd have at least one of Ellerbe and Reed...

I don't know why you would have.

It was pretty clear both were gone after this year.

    Maybe you hoped?
