Not a done deal, but if the Chargers cut Eddie Roual who's name was thrown around here a bit, would you be for the Ravens taking a dip for slot WR? Seems to be oft hurt and I think we are good with what we have, but the Ravens will sign players if the price is right. Looks to be $1.5 million against the cap for the Chargers

Just a twitter hypothetical move, but an interesting name for vet WR: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4853/eddie-royal

I think he came in for a visit last year...I know the team was interested.

He'll have to take a lot less than he did last year.

He's a good player IMHO though when healthy.

Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Over paid for him too, IMO, on that first year.

Last year I was interested in Eddie Royal, but signing Jacoby negates any value he may bring.

Unless a WR who is a clearcut upgrade becomes available, I want to see them roll with the guys they have.

I really want to see Thompson, Doss, Streeter, and Mellette step up.

Agreed. Eddie Royal is essentially a fringe number 3 guy to support your unquestioned top two guys, we already have him in Jacoby, we just don't have a number 2 guy at this point. That may be Doss, Mellete, Thompson, whoever. We shall see.

Wouldnt it be wonderful if Mellette performed well enough to be a starter this year?

Definitely be surprising. I think Thompson is still my favourite to breakout, but I think Mellette or Doss will be playing the slot. Unless they put Pitta out there if Dickson becomes more consistent

My money is on Thompson winning the #2 WR spot. Then, Doss can play in the slot like others have said.

I could definitely see that happening.
